NORTH POLE

Privacy Policy

Last updated October 7, 2026. This page explains, in plain words, how the North Pole sites (northpole.place and holidays.northpole.place) treat your family's information. We built these sites for children and families, so we collect as little as we possibly can.

The short version

What we collect when a child writes to Santa

The letter form collects: the child's first name; the parent or guardian's email address; the message the child writes; and, only if you choose to add them, a favorite North Pole resident, a state or country, and a "naughty or nice" slider setting. We ask grown-ups not to include last names, street addresses or phone numbers, and the form says so. We do not ask for photos, birthdays or precise locations.

What we collect automatically

Like every website, our web server keeps a record of each visit (the page asked for, the date and the visitor's internet address and browser type). These records are used only to keep the site working and secure, and they are deleted automatically after about six weeks.

We use Google Analytics to count how many people visit which pages. It is set up to count visits in aggregate, with Google's advertising features turned off, and we do not use it to follow individual children, build profiles or show ads. Google Analytics uses a cookie to tell one visit from another.

Videos and outside links

Pages that show a video do not load it until someone clicks play. When played, the video comes from YouTube's privacy-enhanced player, and YouTube may then set its own cookies. A few pages link to other websites (for example our social media pages or NORAD's Santa tracker). Those sites have their own privacy practices.

How we use and share information

We use the name and email address you give us to read the letter and send Santa's reply. Our letters are read and answered by volunteers who help Santa. We do not sell, rent or share your information, and we do not use it for advertising or to contact you about anything else. Our email system (the service that delivers letters to Santa's mailbox) holds the letters for us and may not use them for any other purpose.

How long we keep it

Letters and Santa's replies are kept for up to 12 months and then deleted automatically. A parent can ask us to delete a letter earlier at any time.

Parents: your choices

Parents and guardians can ask us at any time to: see what we have about their child, delete it, or stop us from collecting any more. Email santa@northpole.place from the address you used to write to Santa, and we will take care of it promptly. You can also simply decline to send a letter and still enjoy the whole site.

Children under 13

We follow the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 without a parent or guardian's permission, which the letter form asks for before it will send anything. If you believe a child has sent us information without permission, please email us and we will delete it.

Keeping information safe

Our sites use secure connections (HTTPS). Letters sit in a password-protected mailbox that only the volunteers who answer Santa's mail can open.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
